Senior Associate Equity Research

About the Role

We are looking for a highly analytical and intellectually curious Equity researcher to support investment research, equity analysis, thematic research, and strategic investment initiatives across the group.

The role is ideal for a CA with experience in Equity Research, Investment Banking, Sell-Side Research, Buy-Side Research, Transaction Advisory, or Corporate Finance. The individual will work closely with senior leadership, investment teams, and business stakeholders to evaluate investment opportunities, build financial models, conduct industry research, and generate actionable insights.

This role offers significant exposure to capital markets, listed companies, wealth management products, alternative investments, and strategic corporate initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Financial & Investment Research

  • Conduct detailed fundamental research on listed and unlisted companies across sectors.

  • Analyze financial statements, earnings reports, management commentary, and industry developments.

  • Prepare investment notes, company initiation reports, sector updates, and thematic research reports.

  • Evaluate investment opportunities across equities, debt instruments, private markets, PMS, AIFs, and structured products.

  • Track macroeconomic developments, regulatory changes, and market trends impacting investment decisions.


Financial Modelling & Valuation

  • Build and maintain detailed financial models for companies and investment opportunities.

  • Perform valuation analysis using DCF, Comparable Companies, Comparable Transactions, SOTP, and other relevant methodologies.

  • Conduct scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and investment return projections.

  • Support investment committees and leadership teams with data-driven recommendations.


Strategic Research & Corporate Analysis

  • Conduct industry mapping, market sizing, competitive benchmarking, and business analysis.

  • Assist leadership in evaluating strategic opportunities, partnerships, acquisitions, and new business initiatives.

  • Develop presentations, investment memorandums, and research-driven recommendations for senior stakeholders.

  • Support fundraising, investor communication, and institutional engagement initiatives where required.


Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Gather, validate, and interpret financial and market data from multiple sources.

  • Create dashboards, reports, and analytical frameworks to support decision-making.

  • Track portfolio companies, investment performance, and key business metrics.

  • Ensure high standards of accuracy, rigor, and analytical depth across all research outputs.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred. CFA (completed or pursuing) will be an added advantage.

  • 4–6 years of experience in Equity Research, Sell-Side Research, Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Transaction Advisory, Buy-Side Research, or related roles.

  • Strong understanding of financial statements, valuation methodologies, and capital markets.

  • Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills.

  • Excellent understanding of business fundamentals, investment frameworks, and industry analysis.

  • Strong written communication and report-writing capabilities.

  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently on complex assignments.


Preferred (Good to Have)

  • Experience covering Indian equities or institutional research mandates.

  • Exposure to wealth management, PMS, AIFs, structured products, or alternative investments.

  • Experience preparing investment committee materials, research reports, or transaction documents.

  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Ace Equity, Screener, Trendlyne, or similar financial databases.

  • CFA Charterholder or CFA candidate.

  • 9 out of 10 individual traders in equity Futures and Options Segment, incurred net losses.
  • On an average, loss makers registered net trading loss close to ₹ 50,000
  • Over and above the net trading losses incurred, loss makers expended an additional 28% of net trading losses as transaction costs.
  • Those making net trading profits, incurred between 15% to 50% of such profits as transaction cost.
